Dory is a retired sled dog who ran in 5 Iditarod races. While she watches this year's race, she remembers the historic Great Serum Run when 10 mushers and 150 dogs rushed Diphtheria serum 674 miles (1,085 km) to save the children of Nome, AK. Once again, people are using sleds to deliver COVID-19 vaccine to remote parts of Alaska.

The virtual event runs 11 days, from Sun Mar 7 through Wed Mar 17, 2021 - about when the last Iditarod finisher might finish. Run* when, where, how far and how often you choose. You can apply any of your runs to a team that you choose. You can run for more than one team, but an individual run can only apply to one team. For scoring, a team must have entries from at least three different people. Distances are on the honor system, since sled dogs always tell the truth and only rarely exaggerate about the small mammal that got away!
